Description
History
A fascinating elixir with a slight bitter aftertaste, with an unmistakable aroma and a pleasant persistent flavour, it is still made following the ancient recipe of Dr. Ernesto Zampetti, the founder of the homonymous pharmacy in Pontremoli, in the province of Massa Carrara, in the early 1900s.
Production method
The heart of this drink is made up of the precious Rhubarb root, Rheum Palmatum, from plants over four years of age, selected for their “split pink” quality. After careful drying and fragmentation, the root releases its precious aromas during the infusion in alcohol and the purest water of Lunigiana, combined with cinchona calissaia, medicinal herbs, alcohol and sugar.
