Description
History
The first news about Meleto dates back to the 11th century, when the Castle belonged to the Benedictine monks of the Badia a Coltibuono. In 1256, the name “Meleto in Chianti” was mentioned for the first time in the Florentine Guelphs’ book of estimates, as the property of a local feudal family. Thanks to its strategic position, close to the border between the territories of the Republics of Florence and Siena, the castle became the main Florentine bulwark in the area and later one of the main fortifications in the Terziere di Gaiole of the Chianti League. Despite this, the castle never suffered serious destruction, despite being a coveted prey between the two contenders. In 1968, the publisher Gianni Mazzocchi of Quattrosoldi organized an advance of the widespread shareholder base to acquire the property. Readers were offered to buy part of the vines that risked being abandoned, with over 1,600 little dreamers joining the Tuscan Viticola.

Production method
The production of this grappa involves a discontinuous steam distillation, through the use of low-grade columns. The entire distillation plant is sealed to guarantee qualitative and quantitative control over the production. After distillation, distilled water is added to bring the alcohol content to 42% vol. Finally, the grappa is filtered and bottled.

Tasting notes
The bouquet offers aromas of tea, hay, vanilla and hazelnut. In the mouth it is warm and decisive, with a soft and persistent finish.
Usage
Ideal digestive, to be enjoyed at the end of a meal to aid digestion and enjoy a moment of relaxation.
