History
The Domaine Gerard Peirazeau is a winery located in the prestigious region of Morey Saint-Denis, one of the oldest municipalities of the Cote d’Or. The estate was founded by Jules Groffier, great-grandfather of Laurent Groffier, and Laurent’s grandmother, Bernadette Peirazeau Groffier, inherited a part of the property. The other part was inherited by the famous Robert Groffier.
The Domaine Gerard Peirazeau follows a philosophy of respect for the territory and the vineyard, creating unique and high-quality wines that represent the excellence of the beautiful vineyards they own. Some of these include Clos de Béze, Clos St. Denis, Clos de la Roche, and Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru “Les Amoureuses,” just to name a few.
The company uses sustainable agriculture techniques to preserve the health of the soil and vines, producing wines that embody the true spirit and character of the region. With a long family tradition and a dedication to the territory, Domaine Gerard Peirazeau is a must-visit destination for those seeking high-quality and authentic wines.
Production Method
The Pinot Noir winemaking process in Burgundy follows strict techniques to emphasize the unique characteristics of the grape. The grapes are handpicked and the selection of the clusters takes place in the vineyard to ensure the quality of the final product. The grapes are crushed and fermented in oak barrels for a period that usually lasts from 10 to 15 days. During this process, the must is regularly mixed to extract the tannins and aromas from the skins.
