Description

History

The Bulleit distillery was founded in 1987 by Thomas E. Bulleit Jr., a connoisseur of whiskey and in particular of rye whiskey thanks also to the experience of his father gained in this sector between 1830 and 1860. The father of Thomas, Augustus, had put his heart and soul into creating a high quality, balanced rye whisky, until he finally found the balance he wanted. Unfortunately, his work could have been lost because Augustus mysteriously disappeared one night without a trace. Today, however, Bulleit whiskeys are still produced and above all aged according to the centuries-old family tradition.

Production method

The disciplinary that regulates the production of Rye requires that at least 51% of rye is used for the distillation. The result is usually rougher products with a rawer taste, suitable for mixing or for specific palate needs.
