Description
History
Girlan/Cornaiano is a village of which there are historical documents since 1085; the variety of soils, the altitude which varies from 250 to 550 m a.s.l. and the particular microclimate make it an area particularly suited to the cultivation of native and international vines. However, the current cellar was founded in 1923 thanks to the foresight of 23 members, who will see the company continue to evolve, until the inauguration of new premises and more modern production facilities in 2010.
Grapes used
Pinot Noir 100%
Production method
The grapes are carefully selected to contribute to the production of this wine; in fact, only plots with minimal yields are chosen in order to guarantee the perfect quality of the grapes. In particular, the Mazzon grapes are used, since they grow on clayey soils (and therefore capable of transmitting this sapidity/complexity) to the fruit. After harvesting and destemming, the grapes are pushed by gravity into fermentation vats where they carry out this process for 20-24 days at a controlled temperature; after malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in large 12hl oak barrels and small barrels (barriques) for 12 months, then another 6 in large barrels and finally 6 in bottles before being placed on the market.

Tasting notes
It has an intense ruby color with garnet hues. On the nose, an explosion of aromas, from references to the small red fruits typical of Pinot Noir, to the great savory and complex note and sensations of spices and boisé deriving from the passage in wood, all in a very elegant succession. In the mouth full, enveloping, slightly tannic and elegant acidity. Long and persistent finish, really very pleasant.
Possible combinations
Designed for lovers of wines aged in wood but perfumed and absolutely not heavy. Perfect as a meditation wine but also to try on roasts and aged cheeses.
