History
Montevertine was purchased by Sergio Manetti in 1967 as a holiday home and, thinking of producing wine for himself and for friends and relatives, he planted some Sangiovese vineyards. The results obtained were already so surprising that he decided to send a few bottles to the Vinitaly in Verona and it was immediately a great success. From then on we decide to get serious, Sergio will dedicate himself exclusively to the production of wine, increasing the quality every year. The company has its own land at 425 m above sea level. and is located in Radda in Chianti and only typical varieties of the denomination are grown including Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino.

Production method
The grapes are harvested at different times of the year depending on the variety, but strictly by hand, to preserve the freshness and quality of the grape as much as possible. The latter then ferment in contact with the skins in concrete tanks for 25 days. Subsequently the wine ages for at least 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels and rests for another 3 months in the bottle before actually being released onto the market.

Tasting notes
Intense and dark ruby red color. On the nose aromas of fresh red fruit, cherry, plum and raspberry, with violets, black pepper and cloves. On the palate it starts soft and enveloping, with medium structure, and then reveals a final character with acidity and bright tannins. Very pleasant fruity finish.
Possible combinations
Pian del Ciampolo is the simplest and most immediate line produced by the company; it goes perfectly with many dishes given its great versatility. Excellent with first courses with tomato and meat sauce such as tortelli with wild boar or beef ragout, or with grilled meats or traditional Florentine steak. Also suitable for cold cuts and cheese aperitifs.
