History
The Leone de Castris company, founded in 1665 by Oronzo Arcangelo Maria Francesco dei Conti di Lemos, is one of the longest-lived in Italy. In 1943 the winery created the legendary Five Roses, the first rosé bottled in Italy, thus renamed by an American general who asked for a large supply to be sent to the United States. Today the production includes about 2.5 million bottles and combines the traditional vines with international vines such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon. The commercial network exports their products all over the world.

Production method
The grapes, coming from vineyards with an average age of 15 years, are destemmed, pressed and macerated in large steel vats for about 7 days at a controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and ages for 3 months in steel. After bottling, the wine rests for a further 2 months before being placed on the market.

Tasting notes
Brilliant ruby red color in the glass. On the nose typical hints of plum, sour cherry and black cherry to which is added a note of cinnamon and cloves. In the mouth the wine is very soft and round, warm and with a good alcohol content. The tannins are light and elegant; on the other hand, a certain final acidity is clearly perceptible which prepares the palate for the next sip.
Possible combinations
Leone de Castris Negroamaro Elo Veni is a classic of the Apulian territory, known for its pleasant fruity notes and roundness. As a combination it is ideal with rather tasty and dry cheeses or an unusual combination can be made with fish where you want to try to combine a red wine, better if the fish is seasoned with a tomato sauce.
