Description
History
Located in Portugal’s Douro Valley, Quinta do Tedo is a historic estate with roots dating back to the 18th century. The winery combines tradition and innovation, producing high-quality Porto wines. The LBV showcases the exceptional 2015 vintage, enriched by aging that enhances its character and complexity.
Grapes used
- A blend of traditional Douro varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz.
Production method
- Harvest: Handpicked, with rigorous selection of the best grapes.
- Vinification: Traditional fermentation in lagares (stone tanks) with foot treading, followed by the addition of brandy to halt fermentation and preserve natural sugars.
- Aging: Aged for 4-6 years in oak barrels, unfiltered bottling preserves the wine’s structure and integrity.
Alcohol content
20% vol.
Tasting notes
- Color: Deep ruby red with garnet highlights.
- Aroma: Rich aromas of ripe black fruits, plums, cherries, dark chocolate, sweet spices, and a touch of vanilla.
- Taste: Sweet, full-bodied, and velvety, with soft tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, enveloping finish.
Possible pairings
Perfect with dark chocolate desserts, red fruit cakes, blue cheeses like Stilton or Roquefort, and nuts. Also excellent enjoyed on its own as a meditation wine.
Serving temperature
16-18°C. Decant before serving to remove any sediment.
