Description
History
Cantine di Nessuno is located on the south-eastern slopes of Mount Etna, between Fleri and Trecastagni, in an area shaped by ancient volcanic cones and high-altitude heroic viticulture. The estate focuses primarily on native grape varieties, combining Etna tradition with modern winemaking techniques. Nuddu was the winery’s first label, and its name, meaning “nobody” in Sicilian, directly reflects the identity of the estate.
Grape variety
85% Nerello Mascalese, 15% Nerello Cappuccio.
Vinification
The grapes come from Contrada Carpene on Mount Etna’s south-eastern slope. After vinification, the wine ages for 24 months in stainless steel followed by 12 months in bottle. This approach preserves freshness, fruit purity and minerality while avoiding any masking of the delicate character of the native Etna varieties.
Alcohol content
13.5% ABV.
Tasting notes
Bright, fresh ruby red in colour. The bouquet reveals strawberry, blueberry, blood orange, rose and violet, complemented by subtle spicy nuances. The palate is fresh, mineral and intense, with delicate, velvety tannins, excellent drinkability and a balanced finish where red fruit and volcanic notes return.
Food pairings
Excellent with cured meats, pasta with meat ragù, baked pasta, moderately rich red meat dishes, roasts, chicken, rabbit, mushrooms and medium-aged cheeses. Its freshness and refined tannins also make it an interesting match for seared tuna and flavourful Mediterranean dishes.
