Description
History
Monte dei Ragni is a handcrafted winery located in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, in the Fumane area. Working steep terraces with meticulous care and very low yields, the estate applies the Ripasso technique—letting the wine rest on Amarone pomace—to enhance depth and aroma. The 2021 vintage continues the house’s style: complete ripening, significant ageing and true expression of native varieties.
Grape variety
Blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara
Vinification
Hand-harvested grapes. The base Valpolicella wine is produced and then ‘ripped’ over Amarone vinacce to gain structure and aromatic complexity. Extended ageing in large wooden barrels or tonneaux follows before bottling.
Alcohol content
Approx. 15%
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red with garnet highlights. On the nose: ripe red fruits (cherry, plum), amarena cherry in spirit, sweet spices, tobacco and cocoa. On the palate: full-bodied, dense tannins yet integrated, acidity provides lift and the finish is long, enveloping and savoury.
Food pairings
Ideal with red-meat roasts, game, wild ragù, truffle and mushroom dishes, and very aged cheeses. Also perfect as a contemplative wine to enjoy alone.
