The story behind the name of this product dates back to the 17th century, when a young Spanish noblewoman fled the tumultuous colonial war on the Jamaican island. Her maid managed to save a precious family treasure, a small box containing black pearl earrings and an ancient manuscript with the recipe for a mysterious liqueur. The name Tia Maria was given in honor of that brave woman.
