Description
History
The Carleone di Castiglioni estate is located in Radda in Chianti, in the heart of Chianti. It takes its name from the village of Castiglioni founded in 1078 when the monks of Badia al Coltibuono founded it. On this land there is also a typical Tuscan farmhouse called Pian Vecchio, where the Egger family has recently planted some white wine. The entire property is 100 hectares, of which approximately 30 hectares are mainly Sangiovese vineyards and some olive trees, some of which are older than 60 years. The Tenuta di Carleone winery was born in 2012. Sean O’Callaghan, his friends of him “il One Eye”, were asked to join and help build a small artisan winery that produces Sangiovese classically. The company is organic and biodynamic. Nothing is added to the wines, grappa or olive oil.
Grapes used
Sangiovese 100%
Production method
This wine comes to life from grapes that are gently pressed with the feet and subsequently subjected to a long infusion, to then be left to mature for about 18 months in steel and concrete containers. It is remarkable how Sean O’Callaghan has managed to create one of the most authentic and terroir-rooted interpretations of the grape variety that we all appreciate. Absolutely recommended for those who love Sangiovese.

Tasting notes
It has an intense ruby red color with violet hues. On the nose great notes of red fruit: ripe cherry, raspberry, berries, also citrus fruits, also strong herbaceous notes of violets. In the mouth, delicate, elegant, balanced, fresh body, not excessive tannins, the great fruity notes perceived on the nose remain.
Possible combinations
To drink on special occasions or for dinners with friends based on stewed white meat, roasted, grilled or stewed red meat, medium-aged cheeses.
