Description
History
In 1981, a Swiss couple named Brigitte and Bruno Widmer, fell in love with Tuscany and bought the abandoned Brancaia estate in Castellina in Chianti. Today, Brancaia is one of the most renowned companies in Tuscany and its wines are known all over the world. The adventure began when, two years after purchasing the property, the company won first place in a Chianti Classico tasting.
In 1989, the family bought Podere Poppi in Radda in Chianti and, in 1998, opened the branch in Brancaia in Maremma. In that same year, the daughter of the owners, Barbara, took over the company. It was at that moment that the real challenge began: to bring the name of their wines to an unprecedented international popularity, while maintaining the quality of the production.

Production method
In order to fully express its quality, each variety of grape used in the production of wine is vinified and aged separately. This refinement phase takes place in barriques for a period of 20 months, followed by a further 12 months of maturation in the bottle, to obtain a product of extraordinary complexity and elegance.

Tasting notes
Intense ruby red colour. The wine is a masterpiece of complexity and elegance. The nose opens with an intense and articulated bouquet of berries, ripe plums, sweet spices and cocoa. On the palate, the structure is full and harmonious, with velvety tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is long and persistent, with hints of dark fruit and a pleasant toasted note.
Possible combinations
It goes perfectly with roasted or grilled meat, game and aged cheeses.
