Description

History

The story of Berlucchi is also the story of Franciacorta. In 1955 Franco Ziliani, a young winemaker at the time, proposed to Guido Berlucchi to produce a sparkling wine in the French way in his homeland, Franciacorta. They succeeded in ’61 with the first three bottles of “Pinot della Franciacorta”; Franciacorta was born in all respects! In 1962, the following year, the first Italian rosé classic method was also created. Guido Berlucchi passed away in 2000, and the company remained under the guidance of Franco Ziliani and Berlucchi’s 3 children Cristina, Arturo and Paolo.

Production method

It is produced according to the so-called methode champenoise or classic method, a method in which the wine substantially undergoes two different fermentations: the first, the alcoholic one (which it shares with the rest of the wines) takes place in vats for fermentation; the second instead takes place directly in the bottle and ensures that during this second procedure, thanks to particular yeasts, the wine also develops carbon dioxide (which will then give life to the famous bubbles when uncorked). The product then ages on its lees for about 24 months.

Tasting notes

Straw yellow color with golden hues, fine and persistent perlage. On the nose notes of white pulp fruit, citrus and lime, with sensations of delicate flowers, hints of minerality, bread crust and yeasts. On the palate good creaminess, softness and mature sensations, with a medium structure and good freshness on the finish.

Possible combinations

Excellent as an aperitif, for lovers of classic products that have marked the history of Italian winemaking; perfect if combined with oysters, seafood and lobsters, or with fresh and creamy cheeses. Also very suitable for a toast with special people or friends.
