Description
History
After a past spent as a sharecropper, in 1962, the two Coccia brothers bought the company where they had always worked, making a choice that went against the trend in those years of massive abandonment of the countryside; therefore there is a period of growth both in the quantity of bottles produced and in the quality of the wines. Subsequently, in 1985 the company was then divided among the five heirs. Today, however, the wines are always produced with the same passion of the founding fathers, in full respect of the territorial characteristics; for this reason in Castellinuzza identical wines are never produced every year, and the flavors and aromas are real and inextricably linked to the characteristics of those vineyards supported by the terraces. Today the company has about 10 hectares planted with vineyards in the Greve in Chianti area and produces about 90 quintals of Chianti Classico DOCG, 40 quintals of IGT wine and 5 quintals of Tuscan oil.
Grapes used
Sangiovese 100%
Production method
The harvest takes place manually in small boxes in order to preserve the quality of the aromas to the maximum. After the destemming-crushing of the grapes, these are placed in stainless steel containers for the alcoholic fermentation which takes place thanks to indigenous yeasts. At the end of fermentation, the wine obtained is drawn off and placed in cement containers; the pomace is pressed and the contents cooled for decantation of the must in a natural way. The refinement is carried out for a year in cement tanks and then barriques and tonneaux for another 8-10 months. After which the wine is bottled and after a stop in the bottle the latter is finally placed on the market.

Tasting notes
Intense garnet red colour. On the nose notes of tobacco spices, black pepper, cinnamon and cloves with notes of very ripe fruit such as blackberry jam and berries, dried flowers, minerality and sensations of leather and blood that characterize the olfactory profile. Soft, broad and complex on the palate with bright but elegant tannins and a balanced final acidity. Intense and elegant persistence and aftertaste.
