Description
History
In 1981, a Swiss couple named Brigitte and Bruno Widmer, fell in love with Tuscany and bought the abandoned Brancaia estate in Castellina in Chianti. Today, Brancaia is one of the most renowned companies in Tuscany and its wines are known all over the world. The adventure began when, two years after purchasing the property, the company won first place in a Chianti Classico tasting.
In 1989, the family bought Podere Poppi in Radda in Chianti and, in 1998, opened the branch in Brancaia in Maremma. In that same year, the daughter of the owners, Barbara, took over the company. It was at that moment that the real challenge began: to bring the name of their wines to an unprecedented international popularity, while maintaining the quality of the production.
