Description
History
The Pieve San Felice in Pincis, the place where the San Felice winery is located, has origins as ancient as time. It was built in Etruscan times and goes through all the historical phases of the region; it will be disputed for a long time between Florence and Siena and subsequently it will pass from family to family up to the Grisaldi Del Taja, among the founders of the Chianti Classico Consortium, among others. This happens in the first half of the twentieth century; in the 70s the estate was acquired by the Allianz Group which enhances the territory and the local production plant. In collaboration with the University of Florence and Pisa, research projects on native vines are also launched, with the aim of enhancing Sangiovese in particular. In 1982 the Campogiovanni estate of 20 hectares in Montalcino was also acquired.

Production method
After harvesting, destemming and crushing, the grapes are placed in stainless steel containers where they ferment and macerate in contact with the skins for 8-10 days. Malolactic fermentation always takes place in stainless steel tanks. After this procedure, the wine ages for 10-12 months in Slavonian oak barrels and rests for another 2 months in the bottle before being placed on the market.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby red colour. On the nose notes of ripe red fruit, cherry, berries, violets and black pepper. In the mouth balanced, full-bodied, closed on the finish by lively tannins and a fresh acidity.
Possible combinations
San Felice is a wine suitable for pairing with countless dishes, from traditional Tuscan appetizers, to platters of cold cuts and cheeses, first courses with tomato sauce and grilled meat. Special with the traditional Florentine steak.
