Description
History
Domaine Saint Préfert, founded in 1920, is located south of the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône Valley. Since 2003, the estate has been managed by Isabel Ferrando, a former banking executive turned winemaker, who has continued the tradition with a focus on quality and respect for the terroir.
Grapes used
- 60% Clairette
- 40% Roussanne
Production method
- Harvest: Manual harvesting from vineyards situated on soils composed of galets roulés, gravel, limestone, and sand.
- Vinification: Whole cluster fermentation; fermentation in demi-muids.
- Aging: 6 months in demi-muids.
Alcohol content
13.5% vol.
Tasting notes
- Color: Pale yellow with delicate golden highlights.
- Aroma: Aromas of rosehip and acacia, accompanied by fruity notes of ripe pear, white peach, and apricot.
- Taste: On the palate, it is broad and creamy, with a saline structure; notes of honey, pineapple, brioche, fennel, and fresh butter emerge.
Pairing suggestions
Pairs perfectly with fish dishes, seafood, poultry, and soft cheeses. Also excellent with Mediterranean cuisine, such as seafood risotto or herb-roasted chicken.
