Description
History
Cardenal Mendoza is produced by Sánchez Romate Hnos, a company founded in 1781 as a producer of Sherry. It should in fact be remembered that the well-known liqueur wine originates from this region. Sherry, in fact, is an English derivation of the name Jerez, which indicates both the center of the same name Jerez de la Frontera, and the wine. A century later the company began to produce the Brandy that has given it the current international prestige it enjoys, counting, over time, among its admirers the Court of Spain, the English House of Lords and the Vatican City (this the last seems obvious, considering the name of the Brandy).
Production method
Aging in oak barrels containing oloroso sherry and pedro ximenez.
Alcohol content
42%
Possible combinations
Dark and deep mahogany colour. Extremely rich bouquet, distinct note of roasted coffee beans, cherries, figs and plums. Quite sweet, characteristic notes of Oloroso Sherry, toasted walnuts and, dare I say, hazelnuts. As it progresses on the palate, caramel and coffee emerge.
Usage
Excellent as a meditation wine or in combination with dark chocolate.
