Description
History
Collosorbo is a Montalcino winery, founded in 1995 after a hereditary division of the Sesta Estate. The property has belonged to the Ciacci family since 1850. The company is located in the southern area of the denomination, between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell’Abate, and works on 30 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of about 250 m a.s.l. Thanks to the diversity of the soils, the different parcels of Sangiovese give very different sensations and nuances, creating perfumed, complex and balanced wines.
Grapes used
Sangiovese grosso (locally called brunello) 100%
Production method
This wine is produced only in the best years. The grapes are harvested by hand in small baskets and a double selection takes place both in the vineyard and on a sorting belt. After crushing and destemming, an alcoholic fermentation is carried out in steel with long maceration on the skins thanks to indigenous yeasts. The refinement takes place in French oak barrels for about 42 months with a further 12 months rest in the bottle.
Alcohol content
14.5%
Tasting notes
Intense red wine with complex and varied aromas of spices, ripe fruit and balsamic notes. On the palate, structured and soft with ripe tannins and balanced acidity. Long and bewitching persistence.
Possible combinations
Collosorbo’s Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a Tuscan wine ideal for special occasions, whose longevity improves over time. It goes well with important dishes and aged cheeses.
