In Burgundy, not everything has centuries-old roots. Domaine La Croix Montjoie was founded in 2009 by Sophie and Matthieu Woillez, young agronomists and oenologists. Their Chardonnay vineyards extend over ten hectares in the commune of Tharoiseau, with a cellar located on the farm of the old castle. They produce different cuvées by selecting the grapes according to the ripeness and age of the vines. The clay-limestone soil produces wines such as Bourgogne Vézelay, Crémant de Bourgogne and Irancy. Since 2014, the use of new barrels has further improved the quality of the Domaine’s wines.
Chardonnay in Burgundy is produced through traditional vinification, with fermentation in oak barrels and aging on the lees for 12-18 months. The resulting wines are characterized by freshness, minerality and complexity, with the ability to age well in the bottle.
Intense straw yellow color with greenish and golden reflections. Delicate and refined on the nose, characterized by accents of hazelnuts, citrus fruits and white flowers. A pleasant saline note gives it freshness and a high sipping capacity. A Chardonnay of great elegance, which offers pleasure and refinement in a simple but effective way.
Its ideal combination is with white meat dishes, especially poultry, but it also goes perfectly with fish and cheeses.
