Description
History
The Conte Vistarino farm is owned by the historic Giorgi di Vistarino family, in the municipality of Rocca de’ Giorgi. It was precisely Count Augusto Carlo Giorgi of Vistarino who was the first to think of the cultivation of pinot noir in Italy and in the Oltrepò Pavese area; today his legacy is taken up by the generation represented by Ottavia Giorgi di Vistarino, with the firm will to best represent this splendid terroir and raise the quality and the market of its wines in Italy and in the world. The estate currently covers 826 hectares, 200 of which are planted with vineyards; almost all of the vineyards are located within the municipality of Rocca de’ Giorgi.

Production method
The grapes come from vineyards facing south-west and at an altitude of about 250 m a.s.l. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in steel. Subsequently the wine undergoes a refermentation process in a large container (autoclave or “cuve close”) according to the dictates of the Charmat-Martinotti method.

Tasting notes
Ruby red color with traditional intense violet reflections. On the nose notes of fresh fruit such as blueberries, cherries, strawberries and currants, with notes of violets and hints of minerality. In the mouth it is winy, captivating, balanced and balanced by a “sliver” and fresh acidity and light but perceptible tannins.
Possible combinations
Bonarda “Alcolva” is perfect as an aperitif for lovers of not too demanding red wines. In combination it goes well with appetizers, cold cuts and salami, risottos and becomes special if combined with pizza.
