Description
History
Masi is a winemaking reality that has been rooted in Valpolicella for several centuries; in fact, its history begins in 1772, when the Boscaini family purchases fine vineyards in the area called “Vaio dei Masi”, an element that will later give the company its name. The property still belongs to the Boscaini family today, after more than 200 years, and we see the sixth and seventh generation at the helm. Masi has always been a point of reference in Valpolicella and in the world for the production of Amarone; over the years he has started a collaboration by creating a group also with other important families that own estates in the area including the Serego Alighieri, descendants of the famous poet Dante Alighieri, the Conti Bossi Fedrigotti, a prestigious Trentino brand, and Canevel, producers of sparkling wines of quality in Valdobbiadene, as well as owning land in Tuscany and Argentina.

Production method
The company does not use chemical or animal-derived products for the production of its wines. The grapes are harvested and traditionally sent to the drying process, a very important process for making a top-quality amarone. The grapes are stored in boxes in ventilated rooms and left to dry for about 120 days, a period in which the grapes dehydrate leaving their percentage of sugar almost intact. At the end of the withering process, the grapes are pressed and undergo a slow fermentation at low temperatures which lasts up to 30-35 days. At the end of this, the refinement which is at least 2 years begins.

Tasting notes
Intense and dark purplish red color with garnet reflections. On the nose, notes of stewed fruit, dried plums and blackberry and mulberry jam, with hints of spices and balsamic notes. Soft, enveloping and warm on the palate, slightly viscous with great structure, acidity and tannins. Long finish with hints of cooked red fruit and spicy notes.
Possible combinations
Amarone Costasera is perfect as a meditation wine at the end of a meal or in the evening, ideal to be savored in the company of special people. In combination we see it very well with very important and tasty red meats, aged cheeses and, if necessary, dark chocolate.
