Capannelle was born in 1974 thanks to the vision of Raffaele Rossetti who decided to move to an old farmhouse in Gaiole in Chianti surrounded by about 10.5 hectares of vineyard land. After careful evaluations, another 3.5 hectares of vineyards were planted with typical Chianti grapes such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino and Malvasia; at the same time we proceed with the renovation of the farmhouse and the frescoes present in the structure, in order to give new life and splendor to the estate. The first label was born in 1975 as a simple table wine from Tuscan grapes, it will be the first milestone of a path of continuous qualitative growth, which will then lead, about 10 years later, to the production of wines also with some international vines, including we mention the Chardonnay aged in barriques and some collaborations with other Tuscan realities of great importance such as Avignonesi di Montepulciano for the production of 50&50.
Sangiovese Capannelle 50%
Merlot Avignonesi 50%
The grapes were harvested when fully ripe starting in mid-September. Vinification is in red for both wines and takes place in conical Slavonian oak vats; subsequently the wine obtained ages for about 24 months in barrique, only to then carry out a further period of refinement in the bottle before being placed on the market.
It has a bright ruby red colour. On the nose complex aroma of ripe red fruit such as cherry, fresh blackberry and small red fruits combined with spices. In the mouth it is elegant and again complex, with notes that recall ripe fruit and a bewitching and persistent finish.
Excellent in combination with game, roasts and structured red meats and aged cheeses; wine with great capacity for prolonged aging over the years.
