Description
History
The Lakes Distillery, located in England’s Lake District, is renowned for its dedication to the art of whisky distillation and maturation. The Whiskymaker’s Reserve series is an artistic exploration of their sherry-led house style. No.5 follows the success of previous releases, including No.4, which was awarded “World’s Best Single Malt Whisky” at the World Whiskies Awards. With No.5, the distillery aimed to create a whisky with a similar sherry-led profile to previous releases but with certain characters restrained to achieve textural refinement.
Production method
This whisky has been matured in bespoke Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, and red wine casks, made from Spanish and American oak. The combination of these woods and the casks’ previous contents imparts a complex and layered aromatic profile to the whisky. Bottled at 52% ABV, non-chill filtered, and natural in color, the Whiskymaker’s Reserve No.5 reflects the distillery’s commitment to producing high-quality whisky with a distinctive character.
