Capichera is one of the most important and renowned Sardinian wineries in Gallura, located in Arzachena, “nestled” among the granite rocks of the area. Despite having achieved strong commercial success, the company has remained family-run since the 1970s; its peculiarity was the intuition of valorising the pure Vermentino, sometimes making wine in barrique and giving life to very long-lived wines capable of improving over time. Over the years the company has been able to produce interesting wines also based on red grapes, such as Carignano and Syrah, capable of perfectly representing the territory.
During the harvest, the grapes are carefully selected, lightly pressed and the free-run must ferments at 16°C for a period of 4 weeks in steel containers. Subsequently, the wine is transferred to barriques, some of which are new and others of second use, and remains there for a period of between 6 and 8 months, before aging further in the bottle for a few years.
Intense straw yellow color with golden reflections. The nose is intense and complex, with hints of orange blossom, lemon, aromatic herbs, wisteria, lavender flowers, licorice and citrus honey. On the palate, it is dry but at the same time lively and enveloping, rich and full-bodied, with nuances of citrus and honey, while the finish is prolonged and enveloping, with an extraordinary tasting persistence.
Ideal in combination with tasty and well cooked fish dishes.
