Description
History
Van Volxem winery, located in Wiltingen in the Saar region, boasts a long winemaking tradition. Founded on an ancient Roman site, the estate is renowned for producing high-quality Rieslings that reflect the unique terroir of its historic vineyards.
Production Method
Riesling grapes are hand-harvested from vineyards averaging 30 years old, situated on Devonian slate soils with volcanic components such as rhyolite and quartz porphyry. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts in oak barrels and temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 7 months of aging on fine lees, without the addition of additives or fining agents.

On the nose, the Saar Riesling 2023 presents smoky and spicy slate aromas combined with fresh citrus notes. On the palate, vibrant acidity balances with a pleasant playfulness and pronounced tactile minerality, offering a long and harmonious finish.
