Description
History
In the most suitable areas of the hinterland of Albenga, great grapes have always been produced. And it is precisely here that Giobatta Vio known as “Aimone” decided to erect his winemaking “fiefdom”, enhancing and keeping intact the elements most dear to him: family, territory, naturalness. Growing organically, says Giobatta Vio, “is not a choice, neither technical nor economic: it is simply cultural.” Always using exclusively native vines, from Pigato to Vermentino for the whites, to Rossese and Granaccia for the reds, names such as MaRenè, Bon-in-da-Bon, Aimone, U Bastiò, Gigò soon made inroads in the imagination of enthusiasts as synonyms of quality and unity of production. “As we know, wines are not born from the will of the individual but from the whole family” And in fact Giobatta Vio is also supported in the management by his wife and three daughters, who take care of the oenological, agronomic and commercial part. Company with organic certification. Giobatta Vio was awarded as Winemaker of the Year 2017 by Gambero Rosso.

Production method
All the farm lands are certified and run under organic farming. The harvest takes place manually usually in the period between September and the beginning of October. The vinification is traditional in white in stainless steel vessels at a controlled temperature. The wine obtained then matures for 4 months in steel and for another 2 months in the bottle before being placed on the market.

Tasting notes
Straw yellow colour. On the nose marine notes of sapidity, musk and laurel, with balsamic hints. Notes of citrus, white flowers and almond. On the palate the wine has a good initial softness, only to then reveal pleasant notes of fruit and spice and a very fresh final acidity.
Possible combinations
Pigato Marenè is ideal as an aperitif, especially on a warm spring or summer evening. In combination it is ideal with fish-based dishes, whether raw or cooked, delicate or with a more decisive flavour. Also try it with asparagus-based dishes.
