Description
History
Neisson is the local market leader and the only distillery run by a woman, led by her son and master distiller Gregory Vernant Neisson. The sugar cane used comes exclusively from the company’s own plantations, which cover approximately 40 hectares in the municipality of La Carbet, in the north of the island. After a long battle, Neisson managed to include in the specifications the three non-hybrid varieties that she continues to grow: malanoi, rubanée and crystalline.
Production method
To produce an agricultural rum the starting “base” is given exclusively by the distillation of pure fermented sugar cane juice. This is a procedure that was adopted for the first time in the Central American islands of former French domination, especially Martinique. Usually, this process produces more complex and elegant products, characterized by notes that tend to be drier and drier than the rest of the rums.
