History
The Niedrist company has been producing wine in Oltradige for over 170 years, but the high quality production only resumed in 1989 when Ignaz and Elisabeth Niedrist acquired new land. In the following years, the range of wines produced was expanded with the introduction of new varieties, including Lagrein. Today the company continues to grow and evolve thanks to the contribution of the new generations of the family.

Production method
The height of the vineyards in Appiano Monte ranges from 500 to 600 m a.s.l.; they are considered among the most suitable vineyards for this variety of French origin. The harvest usually begins around the 20th of September. The vinification takes place in steel; the fermentation lasts for about 14 days at a controlled temperature of 19-20°C thanks to selected yeasts. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation, it has a natural stabilization thanks to the winter cold and a light filtration before bottling.
