Description
History
Emidio Pepe founded his own company in 1964, after having supported his father and also his grandfather who had been making wine since the nineteenth century. Perhaps first of all he believed in the potential of Trebbiano and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and invested and dedicated all his attention to the cultivation of these two native vines, also demonstrating their great aging capacity and predisposition to the creation of quality wine.
The history of the company still remains a family history, where traditions are handed down from generation to generation and the roots are those of farmers. Today the management of the company is entrusted to the daughters Sofia and Daniela, with their respective young daughters Chiara and Elisa, naturally under the proud supervision of Emidio.
Grapes used
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 100%
Production method
The vineyards are located in the north of Abruzzo, a strip of land located between the Adriatic and the Gran Sasso, on clayey soils that enjoy many hours of light but at the same time there is a strong day-night temperature range and wind, essential for plant health. Both in the vineyard and in the cellar we use only natural products and we try to intervene only where necessary.
Alcohol content
13.5%
Tasting notes
The wine has an intense and clear ruby red. The aroma is complex and intense, with notes of ripe fruit, cocoa and tobacco. On the palate it is dry, warm and soft, with a balanced freshness and balanced tannins, for a round and velvety body.
Possible combinations
Excellent in combination with beef and/or game dishes, also very tasty.
