Description
History
The recent history of the Niedrist company begins a long time ago in Ronco a Cornaiano, in the splendid Oltradige wine-growing area, as the current estate has belonged to the family for more than 170 years. In 1989 Ignaz and Elisabeth Niedrist will then resume wine production with the aim of producing wines of great depth and quality. New lands were therefore acquired which made it possible to greatly differentiate the variety and styles of the wines produced, with the inclusion, among others, of a Lagrein vineyard. Today the company combines stylistic and qualitative growth with the growth of the family nucleus, seeing the new generations employed: therefore Maria, Franz and Johannes Niedrist are at work, bringing new knowledge and experience to the company.

Production method
The height of the vineyards ranges from 480 to 580 m a.s.l., an element that allows the grapes to strengthen the skin thus increasing the aroma; the vineyards arise on soils rich in minerals, a fundamental element for giving substance and complexity to the finished wine. The harvest usually takes place from mid-September to the beginning of October. The chardonnay undergoes both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in 500 l barriques and tonneaux; Incrocio Manzoni and Petit Manseng instead vinify in steel. The wine then matures on its lees for 8 months, a period during which the softness and aromas of the wine intensify. A stabilization occurs due to the winter cold and a slight clarification before bottling.

Tasting notes
Intense straw yellow color with golden reflections. On the nose notes of yellow peach, golden apple, citrus fruits, chamomile flowers, acacia and broom, herbs, hay, vanilla, hazelnut and references of butter, with a background of iodized minerality of stones. In the mouth it is soft, enveloping, mature, however held upright by a lively freshness and a marked minerality. Long and pleasant finish.
Possible combinations
“Trias” by Niedrist is a complex and structured white wine, for some sensations it makes us think of the great white wines of Burgundy. If left to age for a few years in the cellar, it is capable of further elevating its aromas, giving us a refined sip suitable for a meditation wine. In combination we see it very well with cheese platters, white meats or tasty and fragrant fish dishes: baked salmon, sole, lobster to name a few.
