Description
History
The story of this company begins when Marilena Barbera, after years spent outside her native Sicily, rediscovers the vineyard and her father’s dream. Marilena produces its wines following the rules of organic farming and natural winemaking, without the use of herbicides, chemical fertilizers, with the utmost respect for the terroir and biodiversity of Menfi; the wines ferment only spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts. In this context the elements of this Sicilian land can really express themselves: when we uncork a Marilena Barbera wine in the glass we find the bright sun of Sicily, the influence of African maritime winds and the echo of ancient civilizations that once inhabited the area.

Production method
The ancient plantations of Inzolia, planted by Marilena’s father over fifty years ago, represent a precious legacy on which to base the future development of viticulture in the area. The wine is produced with a traditional white winemaking method, preceded by a 48-hour pre-fermentation maceration to obtain the white colour.

Perfect with fish-based dishes of the Sicilian tradition of Menfi: shellfish and fresh fish are capable of further enhancing the already extraordinary characteristics of this wine.
