Description
History
In 1955 Leo Bruni bought land in the Maremma area, still mostly marshy area. The first years are dedicated to deforestation, reclamation and subsequently to animal breeding. In 1973 we began producing wine for direct sale on the farm; the Bruni farm is founded with the adjoining cellar. In the same year, the twins Marco and Moreno were also born, future winemakers and next generation of the company. In 1995 this transition takes place and the twins, just twenty years old, take over the leadership of the company. Today Bruni has 40 hectares of vineyards and has come to produce about 320,000 bottles a year, mainly of Morellino but also of international and white vines such as Vermentino.
Grapes used
Grenache Noir 100%
Production method
The grapes are harvested manually at the end of September. After destemming and pressing the grapes, the latter ferment in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, with frequent pumping over and punching down. The wine obtained after racking and malolactic fermentation is aged for several months in barrels and in bottles to improve some of its characteristics. About 3 years after the harvest, the wine is finally ready to be placed on the market.
Alcohol content
14%
Tasting notes
Dark and impenetrable ruby red color, with purple rim. Warm nose, with notes of very ripe, almost cooked red fruit, among which we perceive blackberry jam, black cherries in alcohol and blueberries, minerality, balsamic notes and spices of Arabica coffee and licorice. On the palate this sensation of fullness typical of the grape is confirmed, warm, alcoholic and soft, closed by ripe tannins and fruity acidity. The finish is long and refers to licorice and cocoa.
Possible combinations
Grenache Oltreconfine is a powerful, structured and warm red wine, suitable for pairing with aged cheeses or first and second courses with a good body and structure. If left to refine in the bottle for a few years, however, it is confirmed to be a great meditation wine.
