Description
History
Fattoria Le Mortelle is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, not far from Castiglione della Pescaia, in an extraordinarily suited position for the production of wine. We have news of the presence of the Antinoris in these lands as early as 1863, with a document that certifies one of the most interesting vineyards of the entire estate as one of the possessions of the Poggio Franco estate. Since 1999 the family has invested in the estate by modifying the vineyards and creating a new cellar, with the conviction that the potential of the area was still latent. Today the farm covers an area of 270 hectares of which 170 are planted with vineyards with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as some local and international white varieties such as Vermentino, Ansonica, Viognier, Carménère.
Grapes used
Cabernet Sauvignon 60%
Cabernet Franc 40%
Production method
The grapes are harvested rigorously by hand and are selected both in the vineyard and upon arrival in the cellar. The grapes are destemmed and crushed immediately and transferred to stainless steel containers for fermentation in contact with the skins. The wine then also undergoes malolactic fermentation in steel and ages for 12 months in barriques before bottling and subsequent placing on the market.
Alcohol content
13.5%
Tasting notes
The wine has a ruby red color with violet hues. On the nose the notes of ripe red fruit, herbaceous and pepper notes, nuances of flowers and balsamic notes are very perceptible. On the palate the wine has good softness, intensity and fruity notes, with elegant and silky tannins and a lively final acidity.
Possible combinations
Botrosecco is a well-constructed cabernet with clean aromas that goes well with many dishes, given the degree of complexity and the great pleasure of drinking. It goes perfectly on platters of cheeses and mixed cold cuts, even savory ones, on first courses with meat or game sauce and on some dishes based on red meat or game, possibly not too complex or cooked for a long time.
