Description

History
Le Pergole Torte is Montevertine’s flagship cuvée, made only in vintages meeting very high standards. The historic vineyards, planted from 1968 onward, produce Sangiovese grapes that reflect Radda in Chianti’s terroir with strong personality. In 2022, the warm but well‑managed vintage yielded phenolic ripeness, freshness, and great aromatic richness. The Magnum accentuates aromatic evolution, allowing the wine to appear rounder and more complex even in early tasting phases.

Grape variety
Sangiovese 100 %

Vinification
Fermented in concrete vats about 25 days; malolactic in concrete; aged 12 months in barrique + 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels; then several months in bottle before release.

Alcohol content
14.0 %

Tasting notes
Deep ruby red with garnet hues. On the nose, ripe red fruit (cherry, plum), sweet spices, tobacco, leather and mineral hints; the palate is enveloping, with mature yet present tannins, lively acidity that brings tension, solid structure and a long persistent finish with fruity and spicy echoes.

Food pairing
Perfect with roast meats, fine game, hearty stews, rich sauces, aged cheeses and challenging Tuscan dishes. Serve at 17‑18 °C, preferably after decanting for at least an hour.

Montevertine

Montevertine was purchased by Sergio Manetti in 1967 as a holiday home and, planning to produce wine for himself and for friends and relatives, he planted some Sangiovese vineyards. The results obtained were already so surprising that he decided to send a few bottles to Vinitaly in Verona and it was immediately a great success, certainly also thanks to the advice of Giulio Gambelli, the most expert Sangiovese connoisseur of the time. From then on it was decided to get serious, Sergio will devote himself exclusively to the production of wine, increasing the quality every year. The company has its own land at 425 m a.s.l. and is located in Radda in Chianti and only typical varieties of the denomination are grown, including Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino.
