Description
History
Founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, the Maison was born from a vision to craft the best Champagne every year, regardless of vintage conditions. Grande Cuvée embodies this philosophy: each edition is the result of an extraordinary blend of multiple vintages and a rich selection of reserve wines. The 170th Edition is based on the 2014 harvest, enriched with about 45 % reserve wines from 11 earlier vintages, the oldest dating back to 1998. After more than six years on the lees and a dosage of approximately 6 g/l, it was disgorged in February 2021. Current Chef de Cave Julie Cavil continues Krug’s legacy of excellence, carefully selecting grapes from Premier and Grand Cru plots. Each Magnum is a journey through time and the depth of the Krug style.

Tasting notes
Brilliant golden color with ultra‑fine bubbles. The nose reveals white flowers, candied citrus, roasted nuts, sweet spices, and toasted bread. On the palate, it’s rich, creamy, and multi‑layered: hazelnut, almond, honey, brioche, marzipan, and dried fruit are woven into a precise, enveloping structure with a long and refined finish.
Food pairing
Perfect with oysters, lobster, foie gras, creamy risottos, white truffle, fine sushi, or mushroom‑based dishes. Serve at 9–10 °C to fully appreciate its complexity. Also excellent on its own as a contemplative drink.
