Description
History
Maison Krug, founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, is renowned for its dedication to creating superior quality Champagnes. The Clos d’Ambonnay was acquired by the Krug family in 1994, with the intention of producing a Champagne that would best express the unique characteristics of this small plot. The first vintage produced was 1995, followed by other selected vintages, including 2006.

Production method
The grapes were harvested on September 21, 2006, a vintage characterized by extreme weather conditions, with high temperatures and periods of intense rainfall followed by the return of the sun, allowing optimal ripening of the grapes. The harvest yielded 4,514 bottles and 800 magnums, all individually numbered.

Color: Bright and luminous gold.

Nose: Aromas of caramelized apple, liqueur, and hazelnut powder, followed by generous notes of bitter orange and dates, with a balanced and impeccable expression.

Palate: Inviting structure with concentrated notes of almond powder, toasted flavors, praline, lemon zest, and pleasant bitterness, with an airy and rounded expression. The finish on redcurrant invites another sip.
Possible pairings
This Champagne pairs perfectly with flavorful meat dishes such as veal filet mignon in cranberry emulsion or osso buco with lemon. It also pairs well with seafood dishes like turbot or wild sea bass with fennel, a simple seafood platter, grilled calamari or octopus, or mussels marinière style. Hearty vegetable preparations like mushrooms stuffed with onion and onion rings with barbecue sauce will further enhance the tasting experience of this elegant Champagne.
