Description

History

The Guicciardini Strozzi family boasts over 1000 years of history with documents attesting to the presence of the family as early as 994 in Cusona, the historic family property. This extends for 530 hectares among the green Tuscan hills, in the San Gimignano area. The Strozzi family was also one of the most important Florentine families in the Renaissance period as well as the main rivals of the Medici; in 1600 the family became related to the English nobles Marlborough, the family of Ser Winston Churchill and we remember among the illustrious ancestors also Lisa Gherardini del Giocondo, famous for being represented by Leonardo da Vinci in the famous painting. Today the family boasts various possessions in Tuscany, precisely in San Gimignano, in the Chianti Classico area, in Maremma and in Bolgheri.

Production method

After vinification, the wine ages for 18 months in French oak barriques.

Tasting notes

Ruby red color with garnet reflections. Intense nose with hints of red fruit and elegant spicy notes of oak and toasted pepper. In the mouth the hints perceived on the nose remain, it is however a structured wine, with important but soft tannins and a persistent finish.

Possible combinations

It goes particularly well with first courses based on meat, game and aged cheeses.
