Description
History
With love and determination, Francesco and Chiara Romano, brothers from an Irpinia family, have chosen to take root in this affectionate land and share their parents’ attachment. They have embraced the family agricultural reality. The company, mainly dedicated to viticulture, saw the light in 2006 thanks to the vision of father Franco and mother Fiorenza. It is the only winery in San Mango sul Calore, a town located in the DOCG area of Taurasi, which was completely devastated by the 1980 earthquake and, with great wonder, rebuilt. The name “Antico Castello” refers to the ancient fortress present in the area before the seismic disaster.

Production method
The grape harvest is done by hand, usually during the first ten days of October. The grapes are then delicately pressed and subjected to a short skin maceration before alcoholic fermentation, which takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine then spends six months on the fine lees before being bottled and resting briefly in glass.

Tasting notes
Intense straw yellow color with golden hues. On the nose it offers a rich and intense bouquet, dominated by hints of sage, aromatic herbs, white flowers and yellow apple, enriched by subtle mineral nuances. In the mouth it is structured and enveloping, extremely refreshing, supported by a lively savory-mineral character and light almond notes.
Possible combinations
Excellent with second courses of white meat and/or baked or grilled fish. We also see it very well with tasty and medium-aged cheeses.
