Description
History
La Massa winery, located in Panzano in Chianti, is one of Tuscany’s most innovative estates. Founded by Giampaolo Motta, it is known for its modern approach and ability to blend tradition with innovation. Giorgio I is dedicated to the founder’s grandfather, Giorgio, and represents one of the estate’s finest expressions, the result of rigorous selection and meticulous work in both vineyard and cellar.
Grapes used
- Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon
- Other international varieties (Merlot, Petit Verdot).
Production method
- Harvest: Handpicked, with careful selection of the best grapes.
- Vinification: Fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks, followed by extended maceration to enhance structure and aromas.
- Aging: Aged in French oak barriques for approximately 18 months, with additional bottle aging before release.

14.5% vol.
Tasting notes
- Color: Deep ruby red with garnet highlights.
- Aroma: Complex bouquet of ripe black fruits like blackberry and currant, complemented by notes of tobacco, vanilla, dark chocolate, and sweet spices.
- Taste: Structured and powerful, with soft, silky tannins, well-integrated acidity, and a long, elegant, and enveloping finish.
Possible pairings
Perfect with red meats, game, roasts, and aged cheeses. Also pairs wonderfully with elaborate game dishes.
