Description
History
Monfortino is the historic reserve cru of Giacomo Conterno, produced only in vintages that meet very high standards. The 2019 vintage marks the return of production after several years of selection; Roberto Conterno opted to include grapes not only from the famed Cascina Francia vineyard but also, for the first time in this version, from Arione, contributing about 25‑27% of the blend—this adds complexity and finesse. Traditional fermentation in wooden vats without temperature control, and a very long ageing in large Slavonian oak casks for many years before the wine’s official release.

Tasting notes
Intense ruby with garnet highlights; the nose reveals black and tart cherry, ripe red fruits, earth, truffle, violet, graphite, sweet spices and balsamic undertones; on the palate it’s powerful yet elegant, with structured tannins, acidity that sustains the wine, full body, fine texture, and very long mineral and persistent finish.
Food pairing
Perfect with rich and structured dishes: braised meats, game, roasted beef or veal, aged pork, truffle dishes, very aged cheeses. Ideal serving temperature 18‑20 °C.
