History

The history of Vie di Romans is a story that dates back more than 100 years. The Gallo family, especially thanks to the commitment and dedication of Basilio, Stelio, Gianfranco and the other family members, has been able to make its way into the Italian and global wine scene. Since 1978 the company has been completely under the leadership of Gianfranco Gallo. Under his leadership the company experienced various turning points such as in 1982, when it began to invest in the production of very high quality wines; in 1989, when the new cellar was built on three levels; in 1990 when the grapes began to be vinified in purity and 1992 when the wines began to be marketed two years after the harvest.

Production method

The Chardonnay grapes come entirely from the Ciampagnis Vieris vineyard. The vineyards have an average age of 20 years and are located on soil with a rich concentration of minerals and iron. The grapes are harvested by hand when they reach optimal ripeness, usually around the end of August/beginning of September. The grapes immediately undergo a skin maceration at low temperatures, and the natural must is decanted by cooling. The vinification is then classic in white and takes place thanks to selected yeasts; the wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation and ages for 10 months in contact with the yeasts. After bottling the wine ages for a further 8 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes

Intense golden yellow color with characteristic greenish reflections. On the intense and aromatic nose, notes of ripe papaya and mango stand out, with yellow peach, apple and white elderberry flowers, aromatic herbs, all on a background of iodine minerality. Soft, powerful and alcoholic on the palate, which recalls the aromatic notes expressed on the nose. The finish is long and aromatic, closed by a fresh acidity.

Possible combinations

Vieris by Vie Di Romans is a white wine with good structure and aroma, suitable for pairing with many fish and shellfish dishes, also flavored with spices and herbs, or with white meat dishes, including truffles for example. Given the great aging potential, of around fifteen years, it is also suitable for consumption by the glass or as a meditation wine, especially after a few years of rest in the cellar.
