Description
History
The history of Vie di Romans is more than 100 years old. The Gallo family, especially thanks to the commitment and dedication of Basilio, Stelio, Gianfranco and the other family members, has been able to make its way into the Italian and world wine scene. Since 1978 the company has been completely under the guidance of Gianfranco Gallo. Under his guidance, the company experienced various turning points such as in 1982, when investments began to be made for the production of very high quality wines; in 1989, when the new cellar built on three levels was built; in 1990 when the 100% grapes began to be vinified and in 1992 when the wines began to be marketed two years after the harvest.
Grapes used
100% Chardonnay
Production method
The chardonnay grapes come entirely from the Ciampagnis Vieris vineyard. The vineyards have an average age of 17 years and arise on soils with a rich concentration of minerals and iron. The grapes are harvested by hand when they reach optimal ripeness, usually around the end of August/beginning of September. Immediately the grapes undergo a pellicular maceration at low temperatures, and the natural must is decanted by cooling. The vinification is then classic in white; the wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation and ages for 9 months in contact with the lees. After bottling, the wine ages for a further 9 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes
Straw yellow color with golden reflections. On the nose aromas of ripe and candied yellow fruit, where we perceive golden apple, pineapple and citrus fruits, with dried yellow flowers, chamomile, notes of hay and aromatic herbs and a pleasant iodized minerality. On the palate it is full, enveloping and intense, with an excellent structure and final acidity.
Possible combinations
Ciampagnis by Vie Di Romans is a well-structured and aromatic white wine suitable for pairing with many dishes based on fish and shellfish, also flavored with spices and herbs, or with white meat dishes, even with truffles for example. Given the great aging potential of about fifteen years, it is also suitable for consumption by the glass or as a meditation wine, especially after a few years of rest in the cellar.
