Description
History
With love and determination, Francesco and Chiara Romano, brothers from an Irpinia family, have chosen to take root in this affectionate land and share their parents’ attachment. They have embraced the family agricultural reality. The company, mainly dedicated to viticulture, saw the light in 2006 thanks to the vision of father Franco and mother Fiorenza. It is the only winery in San Mango sul Calore, a town located in the DOCG area of Taurasi, which was completely devastated by the 1980 earthquake and, with great wonder, rebuilt. The name “Antico Castello” refers to the ancient fortress present in the area before the seismic disaster.

Production method
The harvest of the grapes takes place manually during the first ten days of October, followed by delicate pressing and a short pre-fermentation maceration. The resulting must is then fermented in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature, where it remains in contact with the fine lees for approximately 6 months before continuing its refinement in the bottle.

Tasting notes
Straw yellow colour. On the nose it is delicate and fragrant, with rich fruity and floral notes, among which emerge aromas of daisy, chamomile, peach and green apple, enriched by light herbaceous nuances and hints of hazelnut. In the mouth, it is fresh and light, with an elegant and well-balanced progression, which leads to a persistent and savory finish.
Possible combinations
Excellent on fine white meats or tasty and medium-sized fish; the wine has great freshness and minerality which allows it to stand up to pairing even with intense flavours.
