Description
History
Val delle Corti was born thanks to the realization of a dream of Giorgio Bianchi, who wanted to live in the countryside and produce wine in 1974 and moved from Milan to Radda with his family. With the participation of his wife Eli they restructured an abandoned farmhouse, replanted some vineyards and built a small cellar, from that moment an era of great work and dedication began for the production of Chianti Classico and beyond. Since 1999 the company has been run by his son Roberto and his wife Lis, who thanks to their commitment and determination have brought Val delle Corti and its products to an international reputation level.

Production method
It all starts with a very selective manual harvest, with the choice of the best bunches. Once destemmed, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation, which starts thanks to the presence of natural yeasts, in stainless steel vats for three weeks or two weeks in open tonneaux. The wine is aged for 24 months in old barriques and tonneaux, with a further period of rest in the bottle for 6 months before being placed on the market.

Tasting notes
It has a bright ruby red colour. On the nose complex aroma of ripe red fruit such as cherry, fresh blackberry and small red fruits combined with spices. In the mouth it is elegant and again complex, with notes that recall ripe fruit and a bewitching and persistent finish.
Possible combinations
Extra 2016 of Val delle Corti is the result of a gamble that began in 2014, where the company has taken care of all the details down to the smallest detail, with perseverance and dedication. This experiment has led Val delle Corti to a more than positive outcome, given that Extra is a much appreciated wine also abroad. In combination it is excellent with well-structured first courses with meat sauce or with red meats in general. Also excellent with selections of medium-aged cheeses.
