History

The current owner of the Giacomo cellar testifies to the existence of the family business which has always belonged to his family since the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century. In 1988 he took over the family business despite the completely different origin of studies, and he will devote his efforts to improving the quality of the company and the historic lands on which wines linked to the centenary Piedmontese tradition are produced.

Production method

The grapes come partly from a 12-year-old vineyard, and partly from one of the longest-lived vineyards with more than 35 years of age, on soil of marine origin. Both the specific characteristics of the grape, the Barbera, and these characteristics immediately give the conditions for the creation of a wine with aging capacity and great structure. After the fermentation process, the wine waits 2 years before being bottled, and undergoes another period of refinement in the bottle before being placed on the market.

Colli Tortonesi DOC Barbera Superiore “Bricco della Ginestra” 2014 Giacomo Boveri 75 cl bottle is purple-red in color with intense violet hues. On the straight nose, aromas of fresh red fruit are perceived, but with spicy pepper and vanilla endings. Powerful, structured in the mouth, with a nice acidity and final elegance.

Possible combinations

Colli Tortonesi DOC Barbera Superiore “Bricco della Ginestra” 2014 Giacomo Boveri 75 cl bottle is suitable for traditional Piedmontese dishes such as risotto or baked pasta, especially if with truffles. I also see it well with a nice second course of meat that tends to be fatty.
