Description
History
Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG “Marchese Antinori” 2015 Tenuta Tignanello 75 cl bottle is a red wine produced by the Antinori family on the Tignanello estate, in Tuscany. The Tignanello estate is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, halfway between the Val di Greve and Val di Pesa and covers a total of 319 hectares, of which 127 are vineyards. Surely the two most renowned and well-known vineyards of the estate for the importance of the wines of the same name that are produced from them are the Tignanello vineyard and the Solaia vineyard which arise on land deriving from very ancient marine marls which give complexity and aging potential to the final product . Furthermore, thanks to the specific microclimate, the vineyards enjoy warm days and cool nights during the growing season. In this context Solaia and Tignanello are produced, which have been defined by the international press as “among the most influential wines in the history of Italian winemaking”. According to the Antinori family, they represent “a continuous challenge and a never-ending passion”. The vineyards of Tenuta Tignanello are planted mainly with Sangiovese and non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Production method
The grapes come from different vineyards and are harvested, depending on the specific ripeness, between the end of September and the first half of October. The bunches are then destemmed and softly pressed, in order to preserve all the aromatic nuances acquired by the grapes. The must is then fermented in stainless steel containers, a process that lasts about a week/10 days. During this period frequent and delicate pumping over takes place in order to enhance the colors but preserve the integrity of the tannins present on the grape skins. By the end of the year, the wine obtained undergoes malolactic fermentation in a natural way and is then placed in French and Hungarian oak barrels to refine for about 12 months. Afterwards it will spend another 12 months in the bottle before being placed on the market.

Tasting notes
The wine has an intense ruby red color with some garnet reflections. On the nose hints of red fruit typical of Sangiovese del Chianti Classico: cherry, raspberry, mulberry, berries, violet flowers. Spicy notes of black pepper, cloves and vanilla also pervade the finish. Soft and “vinous” in the mouth, rather warm in alcohol and cut by a good final acidity. The tannins, on the other hand, are already quite ripe thanks to the aging in wood. Rather long and decisive finish, which recalls vanilla.
Possible combinations
This Chianti Classico Riserva represents the crossroads between the readiness to drink of a vintage Chianti and some more mature nuances due to the aging in wood. We recommend it to all those who want to pair it with a second course of red meat but who want to enjoy a wine that goes through a period of aging in wood and therefore has an out-of-the-average elegance.
