Description
History
The De Marchi family acquired Isole and Olena, two neighboring farms in the Chianti Classico area, around the 1950s. Paolo Marchi immediately began to give his own qualitative approach to the company after having studied agriculture. The production of quality wine that was also able to express and tell the Tuscan soul was immediately sought after; priority is therefore given to traditional products such as Vin Santo, Chianti Classico and Cepparello, a very high expression of pure Sangiovese.

Production method
The average altitude of the vineyards is about 450 m. The grapes are harvested when they have fully reached polyphenolic ripeness at different times depending on the variety. The grapes are traditionally vinified in red at a controlled temperature: the fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins for about 15-20 days, with frequent daily pumping over. At the end of this process the wine ages in barriques and other barrels of various sizes for 12 months; it is then bottled and after another period of rest in the bottle it is finally placed on the market.

Tasting notes
Intense and brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose notes of ripe red fruit such as plum, cherry, black cherry and wild berries, notes of minerality and balsamic hints, with black pepper, cloves and toasting. On the palate the wine is balanced, fine, warm and full-bodied with fresh acidity and bright tannins on the finish.
Possible combinations
Chianti Classico Isole e Olena is a classic Chianti of finesse and elegance, highly recommended to be consumed also by the glass for lovers of Sangiovese. It is also suitable for pairing with first courses with meat sauce such as tortelli al ragù, or second courses such as peposo, steak or grilled beef.
