Description
History
Château Villefranche is located in the prestigious Sauternes appellation, famed for sweet wines made from grapes affected by Botrytis cinerea (“noble rot”). The region’s morning fogs and warm autumn days create ideal conditions to concentrate sugars and aromatics. The 2023 vintage expresses elegance and typicity: sweetness balanced by lively acidity and rich aromatic character.
Grape variety
Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon
Vinification
Grapes are hand-selected in the vineyard and winery while affected by Botrytis cinerea. Fermentation and ageing in oak barrels enhance complexity and balance, with careful use of wood to frame fruit intensity. The wine rests in bottle before release to harmonise components.

Tasting notes
Deep golden yellow with amber reflections. Aromas of dried apricot, honey, syrupy peach, candied ginger, vanilla and toffee. On the palate: sweet yet well-balanced by crisp acidity, full-bodied with a long, rich and fruit-laden finish.
Food pairings
Excellent with foie gras, pâtés, fruit-based desserts (e.g. tarte tatin), vanilla cream desserts, spiced biscuits and blue cheeses like Roquefort or sweet Gorgonzola. Also superb with white chocolate or caramel-based desserts.
